It's Just Like Riding A Bike

Actually it is riding a bike. Something that I haven't done on a regular basis since serving my mission in Texas. While Andrea is away for the next couple of weeks working at Girl Scout camp, she left her bike here for me to use. Now I haven't owned a bike since mine got stolen on my mission. That was like 10 years ago. That's not to say that I haven't ridden a bike since then, just that I haven't been regular about it. In fact, I don't think I even rode on a bike from the time I was on my mission to living here in Fort Collins. Every time I've been on a bike since it made me just a little bit saddle sore. In fact I feel like I walk like a bow legged cowboy after I finish riding a bike.

This time was no different. Because gas is so expensive, I decided to ride Andrea's bike to our weekly ultimate Frisbee game. And because I'm such a smart guy, I didn't bring any water with me. It's only about 3 miles to the place where we play ultimate Frisbee from my house. But anyone who has ridden a bike for any amount of time know the soreness that accompanies the ride after not being on a bike for a long time.

After playing a game of 4 on 4 ultimate Frisbee and an institute class, it was time to ride home. Something that I was not excited about at all. All I could think about was how after the first day on my mission I couldn't even sit on the the bike seat because it hurt so much. But I had to get home. With more than a little dread I climbed on the bike, turned on my iPod, and started riding. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it definitely wasn't a pleasant experience. The three mile ride home was a lot longer and harder than the ride there. I felt the muscles in my legs getting sore and I was much more winded than I would have liked. I guess I just need to keep on biking around and hopefully I'll get over this soreness.

this is me laughing hysterically! LOL oh boy...wait let me catch my breath...nope...this is just too funny! Sorry that I'm finding such pleasure at your expense. So does that mean you're not up for mountain biking any time soon?
